Fused Cast AZS Blocks: Premium Zirconia Corundum Refractory for Glass Furnaces
1. Product Composition & Grade Classification
AZS blocks are named after their three core chemical components: Alumina (Al₂O₃), Zirconia (ZrO₂), and Silica (SiO₂). High-purity industrial alumina, zircon sand, and auxiliary mineral materials are precisely proportioned, melted at temperatures above 1900℃ in electric arc furnaces, and cast into integrated refractory blocks. The stable composite crystalline phase formed by α-corundum and zirconia endows the material with unparalleled anti-erosion performance compared with ordinary sintered refractories.
Based on different zirconia content and industrial application requirements, AZS blocks are divided into three mainstream industrial grades, covering all working conditions of glass furnaces:
-
AZS-33 Grade: Contains 33% ZrO₂, with balanced performance and cost. Ideal for general corrosion-resistant parts of glass furnaces, suitable for most conventional soda-lime glass production lines.
-
AZS-36 Grade: 36% zirconia content, enhanced glass corrosion resistance and structural stability. Widely used in severely eroded areas of medium and large glass melting furnaces.
-
AZS-41 Grade: 41% high zirconia formula, top-tier anti-erosion performance. Applied in super-large furnaces, high-temperature intensified melting zones, and special glass production environments with extreme working conditions.
2. Advanced Production Technology
The production of high-quality AZS fused cast blocks adopts strict oxidation electric melting technology, avoiding carbon pollution from traditional reduction melting processes and effectively preventing glass liquid bubbling and contamination. The entire production process includes raw material purification, precise batching, high-temperature electric melting, integral vibration casting, staged annealing, precision finishing, and strict quality testing.
Different from sintered refractory bricks, AZS blocks are integrally formed by molten liquid crystallization, with extremely low apparent porosity and uniform internal crystal phase distribution. The scientific staged annealing process eliminates internal structural stress, effectively preventing product cracking and peeling during long-term high-temperature operation, ensuring long-term stable service performance.
3. Core Performance Advantages
AZS fused cast blocks have become the preferred refractory for high-end glass furnaces due to their comprehensive superior properties that adapt to harsh high-temperature and corrosive working environments:
Extreme Glass Liquid Corrosion Resistance: The unique zirconia-corundum composite crystal structure resists long-term scouring and erosion of high-temperature molten glass, effectively slowing down lining consumption. It solves the core problem of rapid wear of furnace wall materials in glass melting zones.
Ultra-Low Contamination & Anti-Bubble Performance: Purified raw materials and oxidation melting process greatly reduce impurity precipitation. The material will not release harmful substances into glass liquid, effectively avoiding glass defects such as bubbles, stones, and stripes, ensuring high-purity and high-transparency finished glass products.
Excellent Thermal Shock Stability: With reasonable thermal expansion coefficient and tough integral structure, AZS blocks can withstand frequent temperature fluctuations and rapid cold and hot cycles during furnace startup, shutdown, and production adjustment, without cracking, peeling, or structural damage.
High Temperature Mechanical Strength: High bulk density and compact microstructure provide excellent compressive strength and load-bearing performance. The load softening temperature is far higher than glass melting temperature, maintaining complete structural stability under long-term ultra-high-temperature working conditions.
Dense Impermeable Structure: Near-zero internal porosity effectively blocks the penetration of molten glass and high-temperature flue gas, preventing internal erosion and layered damage of the furnace lining and greatly extending furnace service life.
4. Main Industrial Applications
AZS fused cast blocks are professionally customized for glass melting furnaces, covering all key lining parts of various glass production equipment, and are also extended to multiple high-temperature corrosion-resistant industrial scenarios:
Glass Melting Furnace Core Parts: Widely used in melting pool side walls, furnace bottoms, feeding channels, superstructure walls, doghouse crowns, and C-shaped protection blocks of soda-lime glass, borosilicate glass, quartz glass, and special glass furnaces. It is the indispensable key material for long-cycle operation of float glass and daily glass production lines.
Glass Fiber Industry Furnaces: Applied in high-temperature melting zones of glass fiber kilns, resisting long-term erosion of special molten glass and ensuring stable fiber drawing quality.
Special High-Temperature Kilns: Suitable for corrosion-resistant linings of industrial electric melting furnaces, high-temperature chemical reaction furnaces, and garbage incinerators with severe high-temperature flue gas corrosion.
5. Standard Technical Parameters
Our series of AZS fused cast blocks implement strict international industry standards, with stable and standardized core performance indicators, supporting customized size and grade production:

6. Product Value & Industry Benefits
Adopting high-quality AZS fused cast blocks can bring significant economic and technical benefits to glass manufacturing enterprises. Its superior anti-erosion performance greatly prolongs the service life of glass furnace linings, reduces the frequency of furnace maintenance and overhaul shutdowns, and improves the continuous operation rate of production lines. The ultra-low pollution performance effectively reduces glass defective rates, significantly improving product quality and market competitiveness.
Compared with traditional refractory materials, AZS blocks balance high performance and long-term cost savings. Although the initial investment is higher, the ultra-long service cycle and low maintenance cost greatly reduce the comprehensive operating cost of the furnace, making them the most cost-effective high-grade refractory choice for modern large-scale, high-efficiency, and energy-saving glass production lines.
7. Strict Quality Control
All our AZS fused cast blocks adopt high-purity raw materials and advanced oxidation melting casting technology. We implement full-process quality supervision from raw material screening, batching melting, casting forming, intelligent annealing to finished product finishing and testing. Each batch of products undergoes strict sampling inspection on density, porosity, mechanical strength, high-temperature performance, and glass corrosion resistance. We support non-standard size customization and special performance formula adjustment to meet the personalized working condition needs of different industries and customers.
