High Alumina Arc Brick: Premium Curved Refractory for Circular Furnace Linings
Overview
High alumina arc brick is a special shaped aluminosilicate refractory product manufactured from premium‑grade bauxite clinker. With unique curved geometry, it is purpose‑built for circular kiln linings, furnace arches, ladle walls and dome structures where standard straight bricks cannot deliver tight fitting performance.
Alumina content ranges from 55% to 78% for different grades. Through precise batching, high‑pressure pressing and high‑temperature tunnel kiln firing, this brick achieves dense structure and stable high‑temperature performance, widely adopted in metallurgy, steel, cement and thermal‑processing industries.
Key Performance & Advantages
High alumina arc brick inherits outstanding physical‑chemical properties of high‑alumina materials, plus special structural benefits brought by its arc shape.
It features high refractoriness reaching above 1770℃ and high load softening temperature. Under long‑term high‑temperature and heavy‑load service conditions, it resists softening and deformation effectively. Good thermal‑shock stability helps it survive frequent temperature fluctuation without serious cracking or peeling. Moderate slag resistance offers reliable defence against both acid and weak‑alkali slag erosion, extending lining service life.
Its biggest merit lies in masonry performance. Thanks to the arc profile on both sides, workers can adjust roundness during installation. Brick joints can be controlled within around 1 mm, vertical gaps are greatly reduced compared with ordinary straight bricks. Less brick gaps lower risks of molten material penetration and leakage. Even with minor dimensional tolerance, these bricks can still form complete circular lining smoothly, improving construction efficiency and overall structural tightness.
High cold crushing strength and low apparent porosity grant excellent wear‑resistance against molten metal scouring. Compared with traditional clay arc bricks, it delivers much longer service campaign and reduces refractory unit consumption for ladles and furnaces. Custom radii and dimensions are available according to project drawings and on‑site operating conditions.
Typical Applications
High alumina arc bricks are mainly applied for circular and arched high‑temperature linings:
Steel and metallurgy industry: inner lining of steel ladles, molten iron ladles, tundish, blast furnace throat, hot‑blast stove dome and furnace arch for electric arc furnaces.
Thermal processing and building‑material industry: arch roof and circular wall of cement kilns, glass furnace auxiliary sections, boiler furnaces and gasifier equipment.
It is suitable for all kinds of industrial furnaces requiring curved refractory linings, especially for facilities facing molten metal washing and slag corrosion.
