High Alumina Refractory Castable – Superior Performance Industrial Monolithic Refractory
Product Introduction
High alumina refractory castable is a widely‑used monolithic unshaped refractory material, compounded from high‑alumina aggregates, fine powders, binders and functional additives. It is delivered as dry powder and only requires controlled water mixing on‑site. With good flowability, it can be cast, vibrated or gunned to form an integrated joint‑free furnace lining without pre‑firing.
Our high alumina castable covers alumina grades from 60% to 90%, with service temperature ranging from 1600℃ to 1750℃. Different formulations including standard cement, low‑cement and ultra‑low‑cement versions are available to match diverse furnace working conditions. Compared with traditional fired refractory bricks, this monolithic material creates seamless linings, avoids weak brick‑joint penetration points, improves overall tightness and greatly lowers maintenance frequency for high‑temperature equipment.
Key Features and Advantages
High‑temperature strength is one of its core merits. Stable corundum crystalline phase forms under heat, delivering outstanding cold and hot compressive strength, resisting softening under heavy load at high operating temperatures.
It provides reliable thermal‑shock resistance. Thanks to optimized thermal expansion coefficient, the castable tolerates repeated rapid heating and cooling cycles, and works stably for intermittent‑operation kilns without easy cracking or spalling.
Dense microstructure brings excellent slag corrosion and abrasion resistance. Low apparent porosity inhibits penetration of molten slag, flue gas and corrosive media, performing well against both acid and alkaline slag erosion in metallurgy, cement and thermal‑processing industriesRongsheng ….
Flexible on‑site construction fits complex geometries. It can be applied for irregular areas such as burner nozzles, flue channels, furnace doors and special‑shaped linings where brick laying is difficult. Installation procedures are simplified to shorten project construction cycles.
Customizable formula is supported. We adjust aggregate gradation, alumina content and additive system according to actual furnace temperature, atmosphere and erosion environment, to balance service performance and project cost.
Typical Applications
High alumina refractory castable serves as working lining or backup lining for various industrial thermal equipment. Major application scenarios include cement rotary kiln hoods and preheaters, metallurgical ladles, furnace roofs and trough linings, industrial heat‑treatment furnaces, incinerators, boiler high‑temperature zones, ceramic kilns and petrochemical thermal reactors.
It is suitable for both continuous‑running furnaces and batch‑type kilns, widely adopted across metallurgy, building materials, chemical and energy industries.
Installation Notes
Strictly control water addition ratio during mixing. Excess water will reduce final strength and refractoriness. Complete pouring and vibration within valid working time. Proper curing is essential before oven heat‑up. Follow graded heating‑up curve to remove free water and crystal water slowly, preventing lining bursting or peeling caused by fast temperature rise.
