Overview

High purity magnesia, also known as high-purity dead burned magnesia and fused magnesia, refers to magnesia raw materials with MgO content above 96%. It is produced from premium magnesite ore through flotation purification, fine grinding, ball pressing and ultra-high-temperature calcination above 1500°C, featuring dense periclase crystal structure, ultra-high melting point up to 2852°C and low impurity content. As a core alkaline refractory raw material, it has become an indispensable base material for high-temperature industrial lining worldwide.

Steel Industry (Primary Scenario)

High purity magnesia is the dominant raw material for BOF, EAF, continuous casting ladle and tundish lining refractories. Magnesia carbon bricks, precast blocks and gunning mixes manufactured from it bear ultra-high temperature and strong slag erosion during steel smelting, cutting refractory consumption per ton of steel and improving continuous casting efficiency.

Cement & Non-Ferrous Industry

It serves as key raw material for rotary kiln burning zone magnesia spinel bricks, resisting long-term alkali vapor corrosion at 1400–1600°C. For copper, lead and zinc smelting furnaces, it stabilizes lining performance under repeated erosion of molten non-ferrous slag.

Glass, Petrochemical & Other High-Temperature Sectors

High purity fused magnesia with 99% MgO is adopted for glass melting tank bottom and burner blocks, preventing glass liquid contamination. It is also widely applied in high-temperature kilns of ceramics, waste incineration and petrochemical reforming furnaces.
