1. Product Overview
Magnesia carbon brick, also known as
MgO-C brick, is an unburned carbon composite refractory. It is produced with high-purity fused magnesia, premium flake graphite, modified
phenolic resin binders and composite anti-oxidant additives including aluminum, silicon, magnesium and boron carbide.
Magnesia raw material delivers ultra-high refractoriness with a melting point up to 2800°C and outstanding resistance to alkaline slag corrosion. Graphite brings low thermal expansion, high thermal conductivity and non-wettability against molten slag. The perfect combination solves the critical defect of pure magnesia bricks, which are poor in thermal shock resistance. For this reason,
magnesia carbon bricks have become the mainstream lining material for steel mills worldwide.
Compared with common magnesia bricks and magnesia stone bricks, magnesia carbon bricks can withstand sharp temperature changes, strong scouring from molten steel and long-term slag infiltration. They effectively extend furnace service life, reduce maintenance shutdown time and cut overall refractory replacement costs for steel enterprises.

Excellent Resistance to Slag Erosion and Penetration
The high-magnesia matrix resists chemical corrosion caused by high-basicity steel slag. Graphite repels molten slag from seeping into brick bodies, protecting the furnace lining structure, especially the critical
slag line area of steel ladles.

High thermal conductivity quickly disperses internal thermal stress. The bricks will not crack, peel or spall under frequent heating and cooling cycles inside converters and electric arc furnaces.

We adopt customized composite anti-oxidant formulas to slow graphite oxidation in high-temperature oxidizing environments. The bricks maintain stable volume and long service cycles during continuous production.
Customizable Formulas and Shapes
We adjust carbon content ranging from 6% to 20% and magnesium oxide purity based on actual smelting working conditions. Besides standard rectangular bricks, we produce special prefabricated shapes for impact zones, tap holes, trunnion areas and converter mouths.

4. Complete Production Process
First, we select high-grade raw materials including fused magnesia sand and large flake graphite, and match anti-oxidant powder accordingly.
Second, raw materials are weighed precisely and mixed evenly with modified resin binders under constant temperature control.
Third, mixed materials go through high-pressure hydraulic pressing to form compact brick blanks.
Fourth, semi-finished bricks receive low-temperature curing treatment to stabilize resin bonding strength.
Finally, every batch undergoes strict laboratory testing on chemical and physical indicators, followed by waterproof packaging suitable for long-distance sea transportation.
5. Main Technical Specifications
Magnesia oxide content of our magnesia carbon bricks ranges from 70% to 98%, while fixed carbon content can be customized between 6% and 20%.
The bulk density of finished products falls within 2.80 g/cm³ to 3.10 g/cm³, with cold crushing strength no less than 30 to 45 MPa. Apparent porosity is controlled below 4% to 6%, and the long-term service temperature reaches 1600°C to 1800°C.
