Clay Insulation Brick: Economical Lightweight Refractory for Industrial Furnace Thermal Insulation
Product Introduction
Clay insulation brick, also known as lightweight fireclay insulating brick, is a porous thermal insulation refractory made of high-quality fire clay. Sawdust and other pore-forming materials are blended into raw materials and burned off in high-temperature kilns, creating uniform tiny air holes inside the brick body.
Its main chemical components are alumina and silica, with alumina content between 30% and 48%. Bulk density ranges from 0.6g/cm3 to 1.2g/cm3, and the long-term working temperature can reach up to 1430℃. Unlike dense heavy-duty refractory bricks used for working layers, this brick focuses on heat preservation, acting as an affordable backup lining for various industrial kilns, boilers and heating furnace.
Key Performance Advantages
Mass closed micropores inside the brick trap static air, which greatly reduces heat transfer. Its thermal conductivity is only 0.23-0.65W/(m.k), much lower than dense clay bricks. It effectively reduces outward heat loss of furnace walls, lowers fuel consumption by 20% to 35%, and stabilizes internal furnace temperature.
The lightweight feature greatly cuts the overall weight of kiln lining, decreasing the structural load of furnace frames and supporting foundations. It shortens furnace construction cycle and lowers engineering cost of furnace civil works.
Reasonable pore structure buffers thermal expansion and contraction during frequent furnace startup and shutdown. The brick is not easy to crack or peel under rapid temperature changes, extending its service life for intermittent production furnaces.
Compared with high-alumina insulation bricks and mullite insulation bricks, clay insulation brick has lower raw material cost and more competitive factory price. It can be cut, ground and processed on site, matching various special furnace sizes, bringing great convenience to lining construction teams.
Main Application Scenarious
This insulation bricks is widely used for the thermal insulation backup layer of medium-temperature industrial thermal equipment, including:
1. Cement rotary kiln preheating zone and cooling zone lining.
2. Lime kiln, ceramic kiln and tunnel kiln insulation layer.
3. Indusrial steam boilers, heat treatment furnaces, annealing furnaces.
4. Waste incinerator, samll smelting furnace and heating pipeline insulation lining.
It is not suitable for direct contact with molten slag, strong alkaline materials or long-term ultra-high temperature working surfaces.
Common Product Specifications
We supply multiple grades according to bulk density and temperature resistance for customers to select:
1. 0.6 lightweight clay insulation brick: Max service temp 1150℃, for low-temperature insulation sections.
2. 0.8 lightweight clay insulation brick: Max service temp 1250 ℃, general-purpose medium-temperature insulation.
3. 1.0 lightweight clay insulation brick: Max service temp 1350℃ , medium-high temperature backup lining.
4. 1.2 lightweight clay insulation brick: Max service temp1430℃, high-strength insulation layer with slight load requirement.
Standard dimensions follow universal refractory brick sizes, and customized sizes can be produced based on customer furnace drawings.
Installation and Storage Tips
1. Construction: Use matched lightweight insulation mortar for masonry; control mortar joint thickness within 2mm to avoid heat leakage through gaps.
2. Drying: After lining completion, perform staged low-temperature baking before formal furnace operation to remove internal moisture and prevent brick bursting.
3. Storage: Keep products dry and covered during storage and transportation; avoid long-term exposure to rain and moisture to prevent strength reduction.
